A VISUAL GUIDE · WHATSAPP BUSINESS VERIFICATION

# WhatsApp business verification, without the guessing.

You came to connect WhatsApp. Meta wants to check the business. Between the settings, documents and different meanings of “verified”, a straightforward task starts feeling like a small office mystery.

Let’s give it a clearer desk. Here is the business-verification process, with the checks that help you avoid sending the right document for the wrong account.

By Kibi editorial teamPublished 17 October 2026Reviewed 17 October 2026Meta handles the review

THE SHORT ANSWER

## What is WhatsApp business verification?

For the WhatsApp Business Platform, business verification is Meta’s check of the legal business behind a business portfolio. You provide matching business details, any evidence requested and confirmation through the methods Meta offers.

It is separate from proving you control a phone number, getting a WhatsApp display name reviewed or subscribing to Meta Verified. Start with the process shown for your own business and account.

The core sequence: select the right portfolio → match the legal details → provide evidence if requested → confirm your connection → follow Meta’s review.

WHATSAPP, WITH THE NEXT STEP BESIDE IT

## Good conversations deserve a follow-up.

Kibi CRM keeps connected WhatsApp chats beside the enquiry, its owner and next action. Give the next reply its context, even when a colleague takes over. Meta still handles business verification.

Three real screens. Before submission.

Captured in Meta on 17 October 2026, with private account details excluded. India is the example country. Steps 3–6 follow Meta’s published instructions; the screens offered to your business may differ.

## Already have a verification request? Start here.

With full-control access, check Security Center for the request’s status. If verification began elsewhere and no status appears here, return to the platform where you started, such as Commerce Manager.

If the request is pending, follow that review or correction message. Do not start again just because another settings screen looks empty.

## First, which “verification” are you looking at?

Business verification, phone registration, display-name review and badges answer different questions. Finishing one does not complete the others.

If your goal is a badge, pause before gathering evidence for the wrong process. This guide covers the business behind the relevant Meta portfolio; Meta Verified is a separate subscription programme.

NAME THE CHECK

### Four checks. Different jobs.

Similar labels can mean very different things. Here is what each check is for.

Company verification

#### Who is the business behind the account?

Meta checks the business using the details and evidence it asks you to provide.

Your next step

Use the business details and documents requested in your Meta account. Follow its instructions if something does not match.

This is separate from registering a phone number, reviewing a display name or getting a badge.

Phone registration

#### Which number are you connecting?

Your WhatsApp setup has its own steps for registering the number and checking access to it.

Your next step

Follow the registration steps shown for that number. Use the verification method Meta offers in your setup.

A registered number does not, on its own, confirm that company verification is complete.

Display-name review

#### What business name will people see?

Meta reviews the business name used for the WhatsApp number. That name has a separate review from the business itself.

Your next step

Check Meta’s current display-name guidance and follow any correction request shown for that number.

A name being approved does not mean every other check is finished.

Verified badge

#### A badge has its own requirements.

A visible badge belongs to a separate Meta programme or decision. Completing company verification does not automatically give you one.

Your next step

Check the badge programme and eligibility available to your account. Follow the instructions for that programme.

Kibi cannot issue a Meta or WhatsApp badge.

Meta makes the verification decision. Follow the instructions in your own account.

## Before the documents, check the account.

The account map matters: business portfolio → WhatsApp Business Account → phone number. A portfolio can hold several WhatsApp accounts, and an account can hold several business numbers. Check which layer is being verified.

Meta requires full control of the business portfolio to start verification, and the portfolio must be eligible. If you do not have that access, ask the administrator to check it rather than borrowing their password.

Use the current legal details and a working business website. Keep one person responsible for the submission, with whoever looks after the official business records available to check an uncertain match.

Keep the account relationship clear.

- Business portfolio

- WhatsApp Business Account

- Phone number

Tick as you check your own setup.

- I have selected the portfolio connected to the intended WhatsApp account.

- The person starting verification has full control of that portfolio.

- The account offers an eligible verification route, and I have checked any existing request.

- The legal business name, address, phone number and website are accurate.

- The business website uses HTTPS and loads correctly.

- I can provide the requested evidence and access an offered confirmation method.

IN YOUR META ACCOUNT

## Step 1: open the correct business in Meta.

Open Meta’s business settings or your WhatsApp provider’s verification link. Select the intended portfolio, then open Security Center. For an eligible business, Meta’s instructions say to choose “Start verification”.

Compare the business with the WhatsApp account you intend to use. Similar names are a reason to check the relationship, not a reason to guess. A small check now saves a much larger sigh later.

## Step 2: choose your country and business type.

Read Meta’s introduction. For a new, eligible request, continue to the country and business-type choices. If a request already exists, follow it instead.

Choose the country and legal structure that match the organisation’s records. If you are unsure, ask the person responsible for those records before continuing.

### Read what the check involves

### Choose the business’s country

India is the example shown. Choose the country where your own business is registered.

### Match the business’s structure

![Meta’s Select your business type screen listing Corporation, Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Private Company and Institution; no option is selected.](https://kibihq.com/_astro/03-select-business-type.BOlQ4RY5_aSFfL.webp)

Choose the type that matches your business records. This captured screen has no type selected.

IN YOUR META ACCOUNT

## Step 3: enter the business details Meta requests.

Enter the legal business name, address, phone number and website requested by Meta. Check them against the business’s official records, and confirm that the HTTPS website loads before continuing.

Your public brand name may differ from the registered entity. Check which details belong in this submission instead of copying an old marketing profile or choosing the shortest name.

Review any matching business records offered. If your organisation is not listed or none matches, use the relevant “My business isn’t listed” or “None of these match” option. Do not select a similar business.

Fictional name-match example

Bloom Interiors trades under a short public name, while its business records use a longer legal name. The administrator checks which entity Meta is verifying and uses the information requested for that entity.

## Which documents does Meta accept for business verification?

Use the evidence requested for your business, country and current flow. The examples below come from Meta’s general document guidance; your account’s own request decides which ones you need.

Check that documents are current, unexpired and issued by the relevant authority or institution. Open the actual file: a filename called “latest” is a hopeful start. Reading the contents is the useful part.

Tick as you check your own setup.

- Correct entity: the evidence belongs to the business being verified.

- Name match: the relevant business name agrees with the details entered.

- Address match: the requested address information is consistent and current.

- Requested evidence: the file is one of the types Meta accepts in this flow.

- Readable file: the relevant information is legible and the requested content is included.

- Current information: resolve known outdated details before sending them for review.

- Final comparison: another authorised person can check any uncertain mismatch before submission.

Examples from Meta’s general document guidance; follow the evidence requested in your own flow

Examples from Meta’s general document guidance; follow the evidence requested in your own flow

| Document type | Important distinction |
| --- | --- |
| Certificate of incorporation or articles | Use an official record for the legal entity being verified. |
| Business registration or licence | Check the relevant authority’s current business record. |
| Government-issued business tax document | Use the issued document; a self-filed tax document does not meet this category. |
| Business bank statement | Check that the legal business details match the information Meta requests. |
| Utility bill | Address or phone evidence only, with the legal business name on the bill. It does not verify the legal business name. |

IN YOUR META ACCOUNT

## Step 4: provide only the evidence Meta asks for.

Meta may request official documents to confirm the details. Follow the evidence prompts for your selected business, correcting a stated mismatch rather than adding unrelated files.

Upload through the official flow and keep copies in your approved business records. For support, share the error or rejection reason with sensitive details hidden—not identity information, private documents, passwords or codes.

Check Meta’s supported document languages. If yours is not supported, its guidance asks for an English translation carrying the translation agency’s official stamps. Check that before paying for a translation.

Cover personal information Meta does not need, as its instructions explain, while keeping the required business details legible. For example, do not leave an unnecessary personal identification number visible in the file.

[Meta’s accepted documents and language rules](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/159334372093366)

IN YOUR META ACCOUNT

## Step 5: confirm your connection to the business.

Meta may offer confirmation by email, phone call, text message, WhatsApp or domain verification. Choose a method available in your flow that the authorised administrator can access. Email confirmation may also require proof of domain ownership.

For domain verification, follow Meta’s offered meta-tag or DNS instructions. Use the current instructions for the selected domain; owning a website does not, by itself, complete every business-verification check.

Keep confirmation codes inside the official process. If a confirmation does not arrive, check the selected destination and that method’s guidance before changing several business details at once.

[Meta’s accepted documents and language rules](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/159334372093366)

IN YOUR META ACCOUNT

## Step 6: submit, then follow the review.

Review the selected business, details and requested evidence together. Complete the offered confirmation, then choose “Done” as instructed by Meta. Read the resulting status; an acknowledgement is not an approval.

Meta’s official guidance, checked on 17 October 2026, says a decision may take up to 14 business days. That is guidance, not a promised approval date. Follow the current status in your account.

Keep a short note of the business, submission date and reported status. Editing business details later may require verification again, so check the effect before making unrelated changes.

Meta’s status guidance says you will receive a notification when the review is complete. Check the actual decision and any next action rather than treating the notification alone as approval.

[Meta: where to find the review status and decision](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/863987813384785)

## Pending, rejected or no button? Follow the state you actually have.

Read the status and its reason together. A pending review, missing start option and rejected document need different next actions.

For a correction, address the stated mismatch through the option Meta offers. For a pending request, follow the existing review. If support is needed, share the exact message with confidential details hidden.

Check the business website too. Meta flags pages that fail to load, lack HTTPS or contain broken links. Another upload will not fix a broken website.

If the reason concerns who represents the business or which entity owns it, ask the authorised administrator to check that relationship before changing documents.

If an appeal is available, inspect the reason and follow the option in Security Center or the platform where verification began. Address that reason with relevant evidence rather than opening another submission.

FIND THE NEXT STEP

### What is Meta showing you?

Start with the message in your account. Choose the situation closest to what you see.

Can’t find the start option

#### Check the account before the button.

Make sure you are looking at the intended business portfolio, with the access Meta asks for.

Your next step

Read the eligibility and access instructions in that account. If there is no start option, use the help or support route Meta offers there.

Do not create another portfolio just to look for a different result.

The review is pending

#### Read the request that is already open.

Check the current status and whether Meta has asked for more information.

Your next step

Complete any requested step in your Meta account. If the account offers a support or review option, follow that route.

Kibi cannot approve or speed up Meta’s review.

Business details were rejected

#### Start with the reason Meta gave.

Read the rejection message before changing the business details or sending another document.

Your next step

Check that the details and requested evidence agree. Then use the correction or review option offered in your account.

Use genuine, current business information. A different document is only useful if it answers the actual request.

Verified, but still limited

#### One completed check is one completed check.

Check which business, account or number is marked verified. Then read the separate limit or restriction notice.

Your next step

Follow the next step shown for that specific account or number. Also check whether phone registration or display-name review still needs attention.

Business verification does not settle every WhatsApp restriction or automatically grant a badge.

Meta makes the verification decision. Follow the instructions in your own account.

## What does verification change about your messaging limit?

Meta’s messaging limit counts unique WhatsApp recipient phone numbers that receive delivered messages outside the customer-service window, within a moving 24-hour period. We checked its 21 May 2026 guidance on 17 October 2026.

The limit is shared across all phone numbers in the business portfolio. Check WhatsApp Manager → Account tools → Messaging limits for the current portfolio allowance.

Business verification is one eligibility path for an increase, not a guarantee. Meta evaluates message quality and may approve or deny it. Its documentation also describes partner verification and a qualifying messaging-history path.

Higher tiers depend on Meta’s quality and usage criteria, not just business verification. A blank or unknown value is still not proof of unlimited messages.

- 250: the starting limit for new business portfolios.

- 2,000: an eligible increase after Meta’s evaluation; verification alone does not promise it.

- 10,000 → 100,000 → unlimited: further levels for portfolios meeting Meta’s scaling criteria.

## Back in Kibi: check what’s ready.

Open WhatsApp in Kibi and find business verification under “Getting WhatsApp ready”. Follow its Meta link, then check the selected business and any existing request.

Kibi shows the verification information Meta reports. The checklist separates verification, display-name review and the Meta payment-method task. If Kibi and Meta disagree, record both states and when you checked them.

Follow the readiness item needing attention and the composer’s restrictions. Meanwhile, give the enquiry a clear owner and next permitted action. The customer’s question still deserves a plan.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

## Still untangling a “verified”?

Do I need Kibi to verify my business on Meta?

No. Meta handles business verification for the relevant business portfolio. Use the official flow available to your account. Kibi can link you to that process and show reported verification information for a supported connection.

Is business verification the same as a WhatsApp badge?

No. This guide covers Meta’s check of the business behind the relevant portfolio. Phone verification, display-name review and Meta Verified are separate processes with their own requirements.

Which documents do I need for WhatsApp business verification?

Follow Meta’s evidence list for your business, country and current flow. Match the entity, name, address and requested information. The document table above explains general categories; it cannot guarantee what your account will accept.

Why is the verification button missing?

Meta requires an eligible business portfolio and full-control access to start verification. Check the selected business, your access and any existing request. Follow the explanation in your account rather than creating another portfolio or moving a live number.

How long does Meta business verification take?

Meta’s official instructions, checked on 17 October 2026, say a decision may take up to 14 business days. This is guidance, not an approval promise. Follow the status and any correction request in your own account.

Will verification give me unlimited WhatsApp messages?

No. Verification is one eligibility path, and Meta still evaluates quality before approving an increase. Higher limits have their own criteria. Read the current portfolio limit in WhatsApp Manager.

Should I start again if my business already has a verification request?

Follow the existing request first. Read its status, correction message or next action before opening a new flow. A duplicate submission is not needed to use this guide, and Kibi cannot speed up a pending Meta review.
